GIVE GENEROUSLY

COVID-19 is making its presence known throughout the world. All of us are affected by this insidious and invisible enemy in one way or another. It is truly a matter of health, wealth, life and death. It is also an opportunity for the church to shine by giving to God in this dark hour.

MPMBC was founded in 1915, a year after the start of WWI. The pandemic flu of 1918 killed millions worldwide. Jim Crow, WWII and other catastrophic events have come and gone. Yet MPMBC remains standing on the Word of God, “Upon this rock I will build My church and the gates of hell will not prevail…” Matthew 16:18.  The generosity of past saints have positioned us to give generously today. Let us follow the example of the Macedonian church in 2 Corinthians 8 and 9. Paul said, “Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity.” (2 Cor.8:2)

Our stewardship in giving to Christ is not based on our sitting on His premises. Our giving is based on our standing on His promises. “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” (2 Cor.9:6) Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35).  “A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil, or fruit from the trees belong to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.” (Lev.27:30)
